Japan is known as a disaster-prone country. Recently, not only earthquakes but also torrential rain disasters have caused a lot of damage.
Let's look back at the history of disaster response in Japan and together consider how the concept of evacuation measures, preparedness and support for pets has changed.
12:30 – 13:10 Pet evacuation measures undertaken by the local Veterinary Medical Association and in Daito City.
A system for pet evacuation measures is gradually being put in place through the cooperation of veterinary associations and local authorities.
This session will introduce the Veterinary Medical Assistance Team “VMAT” of the Osaka Prefecture Veterinary Medical Association and the pet evacuation measures taken by pet owners in evacuation centres in Daito City.
13:40 – 14:20 Animal welfare and disaster preparedness in Japan and Europe
In recent years, natural disasters, both domestic and international, have been on the increase, with floods becoming more serious in Europe, and in this context, animal disaster preparedness is attracting attention.
This session will discuss the situation of evacuation during disasters in Japan, which has advanced examples of animal evacuation measures, and in Germany, which is regarded as a leading country in animal welfare, and the efforts being made from the perspective of animal welfare, based on new findings.
14:50 – 15:30 Unjustifiable Premiums and Misleading Representations Act seminar

In recent years, new rules have been introduced in the Act against Unjustifiable Premiums and Misleading Representations due to the introduction of stealth marketing regulations, a fact-finding survey on No. 1 labeling, and legal amendments.
In light of these, this section provides tips on how to avoid violations of the Unjustifiable Premiums Act.

Japan Rescue Association was established in September 1995 in the wake of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, and is engaged in the training and dispatch of disaster rescue dogs and therapy dogs, as well as animal welfare activities.
We will give a demonstration and talk about the activities of disaster rescue dogs, which are still unknown to many people.
